👉 “Uber of China” to Trial Central Bank Digital Currency

The “Uber of China” – ride-sharing app Didi – will be trialing the China’s central bank digital currency, known as Digital Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP).

The trial is set to be China’s first major real-world integration of DCEP, with reports also stating that Starbucks, McDonald’s, and Subway may also be next in line.

Didi acquired Uber’s China business in 2016, and now has more than 550 million users.
