Decentralized exchange Uniswap has created its own UNI governance token, airdropping 150 million of them to its users.

The token is designed to grow the platform via a decentralized mechanism, as well as reward users who contribute to the ecosystem.

Some believe that the release of the token was a direct response to rivals Sushiswap, who cloned the Uniswap platform and released their own SUSHI token.
