Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has finally relaunched trading services for Japanese customers, after two years.
Kraken shut down its service in Japan in 2018, as regulations in the country tightened following a $530 million hack of another cryptocurrency exchange.
The reopening to Japan is part of a larger move by Kraken to expand into the Asia-Pacific region.
CoinShares CSO Meltem Demirors has stated that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if PayPal launched their own digital currency within the next 6-12 months.
The remark came after PayPal announced it would support cryptocurrency purchases, sales and spending yesterday.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has published new guidance for futures commission merchants (FCMs), outlining how they must hold virtual currency.
The guidance specifically concerns physically-delivered futures contracts and swaps, and is designed to address the additional custodial risk associated with holding digital currencies on behalf of customers.
