VanEck, a well-known asset management firm, has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF).
The fund would be a trust holding Ether (ETH), with its share value based on the average market rate of the Ether held in the trust.
VanEck also recently re-filed for a Bitcoin ETF, however no ETFs have been approved in the US to date for any cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin earned a mention by Tesla founder Elon Musk on Saturday Night Live during the weekend, in a much-anticipated TV segment.
The coin’s price did not respond well, as it fell 22% after the show began. The coin had a strong run-up to the show, however, jumping 73% during the week before Saturday.
Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Rari Capital was exploited for $10 million worth of Ether over the weekend, equal to about 60% of user funds in the affected pool.
Protocol contributors voted for 2 million of the platform’s native RGT tokens – allocated as developer incentives – to be used as reimbursement for the hack’s victims.
