The Italian Banking Association (ABI) have publicly expressed their willingness to pilot the European Central Bank digital euro.
The ABI stated that they are ready to participate in projects and experiments related to the digital currency, and published their own list of considerations for a digital euro.
The association consists of more than 700 banking institutions in Italy, and joins both France and the Netherlands in support of testing the venture.
Each of the companies have previously received funding from UNICEF’s Innovation Fund, with the cryptocurrency funding designed to support piloting or scaling of their businesses.
New Zealand police have reportedly seized $90 million worth of funds from the alleged operator of BTC-e, a cryptocurrency exchange which was shut down in 2017.
The alleged operator, Alexander Vinnik, is accused of operating the exchange without anti-money laundering controls, which enabled criminals to launder money through the platform.
